Glaciers retreated in the period 2009/10    (30. 1. 2011)

The first overview of the results of 91 measurements taken in fall 2010 show 82 glaciers lost in length, only three with a moderate advance and another six who did not change the position of the glacier terminus. This result confirm the trend of a continued glacier retreat.

For six glaciers (Basòdino, Findelen, Gries, Pizol, Rhone, Silvretta) the evaluated mass balance indicate a mass loss in the last period. Snow accumulation in winter and also melt during summer are rated on average.

The web-site has been updated with the most recent data, figures and many new photographs.
